My Uncle Needs A Free Glucose Meter
Since I was a young child, I always remember uncle Tom as one who loved to consume food. Indeed I always recollect him as a fat guy.
Matilda, my aunt and his wife, almost always did her best to make him stop his bad eating styles, but I must say, she wasn't very successful. In fact, Matilda would always cook well balanced meals for him, like soups and meals that are based upon vegetables, while trying to eliminate any foods which are high in fats. Matilda always refrained from cooking desserts, unless they'd visitors for dinner.
Sadly, my uncle always craved sweets, cakes, doughnuts, chocolates, or be it any variety of food that is high in sugar content. That is why Tom took the regular habit of travelling to their grocer to acquire all the stuff this is "missing", that is cakes, biscuits, sweets and so forth. Consuming a whole packet of biscuits at tea time is normal for uncle Tom. Who knows what Tom eats on the job, surely he doesn't eat a salad meal while on the job and you never know what number of soda drinks and chocolates does he buy during office hours.
At least my uncle had occasional visits to the doctor, probably after being pressurised by his wife, and each and every time the doctor repeated that he must stop eating rubbish and shed weight urgently. My uncle is really a Stubborn person and when people simply tell him to limit his diet he usually does the contrary.
My cousins, uncle Tom's daughter and son, also love sweets. This comes to no surprise.
Alas a couple of months ago, my uncle had a blood test and it ended up he was suffering from diabetes type 2. My uncle got a shock when he got to know from the doctor what could be the implications of type 2 diabetes.
Yet another thing the doctor told him was to purchase a glucose meter or otherwise to try to get free glucose meter. The doctor told him that just watching what food he eats seriously isn't enough.
Tom remains to be bewildered by the words of his doctor. While he has started to master his intake of sweets and sugared foods, Tom got depressed and has stopped being the cheerful person as I always remembered him.
As Tom still has to obtain a glucose testing kit I though that I could help.
